THE CONNECTICUT SENATE HAS
APPROVED A BILL FOR A THIRD
CASINO, BUT IT
STILL NEEDS APPROVAL BY BOTH THE
HOUSE AND THE GOVERNOR FOR IT TO
GO INTO EFFECT.
THE CONNECTICUT STATE SENATE
APPROVED THE 3RD CASINO PLAN FOR
EAST WINDSOR BY A VOTE OF 24 TO
12 ON WEDNESDAY, WHICH LAYS OUT
HOW THE
STATE WOULD REGUALTE THE CASINO
FACILITY
THE BILL STATES THAT THE
FACILITY WOULD PAY A 25 PERCENT
TAX ON SLOTS AND 25
PERCENT ON TABLE GAMES, 10
PERCENT OF WHICH WOULD GO BACK
TO THE STATE.
THE CT TRIBES SAY THIS BILL WILL
PROTECT OVER NINE THOUSAND
CASINO
RELATED JOBS AND THE CASH THE
STATE GETS FROM THE SLOT
MACHINES.
BUT THE HOUSE ISN’T HAPPY ABOUT
IT.
THE HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER SAID
THE BILL CANNOT PASS THE HOUSE
AS CURRENTLY
WRITTEN.”
GOVENOR DANIEL MALLOY HAS SAID
THAT THE STATE SHOULD MAINTAIN
ITS
LONGSTANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH
THE TWO CT TRIBES.
TRIBAL LEADERS SAY THIS CASINO
IN EAST WINDSOR, WOULD BRING
MORE THAN
1700 HUNDRED JOBS AND 8 AND HALF
MILION DOLLARS ANNUALLY TO THE
TOWN.
THE PROPOSED CASINO IS ABOUT 20
MINUTES AWAY FROM THE MGM CASINO
THAT’S BEING BUILLT RIGHT HERE
IN SPRINGFIELD.
THE MASSACHUSETTS GAMING
COMMISSION IS MEETING WITH MGM
REPRESENTATIVES AT
THE MASS MUTUAL CENTER TODAY TO
