Area legislators want Walker to reconsider casino decision

ARREST AND CONVICTION.
JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT THE
KENOSHA CASINO DEBATE WAS DONE,
SOME LOCAL LAWMAKERS ARE CALLING
FOR A DO-OVER.
NEW AT 6:00, WISN 12 NEWS KENT
WAINSCOTT IS HERE WITH A LOOK AT
WHY.
EVEN SOME LAWMAKERS IN HIS OWN
PARTY ARE CALLING ON GOVERNOR
SCOTT WALKER TO CHANGE HIS MIND.
YES.
THIS IS THE LETTER FROM 10 STATE
LAWMAKERS.
DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS URGING
GOVERNOR WALKER TO STEP BACK
FROM HIS REJECTION OF THE
MENOMINEE ART ROCK CASINO.
THEY SAY
THAT WE ARE GREATLY
DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR ANNOUNCED
DECISION, AND TO BE FRANK, THE
VAST MAJORITY OF OUR
CONSTITUENTS ARE MORE THAN
DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR ACTION.
IT IS SIGNED BY LAWMAKERS FROM
THE KENOSHA-RACINE COUNTY ERRORS
— AREAS.
WE WERE WITH THE GOVERNOR IN
RACINE COUNTY THIS MORNING WHEN
SAMANTHA KERKMAN THE LIVERED THE
LETTER TO HIM.
A NUMBER OF US IN THE AREA
REALLY WANT HIM TO TAKE A SECOND
LOOK.
WE CONSIDER — RECONSIDER HIS
DECISION.
I THINK THAT SOME OF HIS
REASONING MIGHT HAVE BEEN AS A
LATE LAST WEEK WITH THE BOND
THAT THE HARD ROCK WOULD HAVE
GONE OUT AND GOT FOR 250 MILLION
DOLLARS TO ASSURE THAT THE
TAXPAYERS WERE NOT ON THE HOOK.
IN THE CASE OF THE CASINO, IT
HAS BEEN PROVEN THROUGH OUTSIDE
COUNSEL AND OTHERS THAT IF WE
IMPROVE THE CASINO, IT WILL COST
IS $100 MILLION RIGHT NOW.
IT WILL COST US TWO OR THREE
TIMES MORE THAN THAT IN THE
FUTURE.
I CANNOT HAVE A WHOLE IN THE
STATE BUDGET.
THE ORIGINAL
DEADLINE WAS
FEBRUARY 19 THROUGH THE
LAWMAKERS WANT HIM TO TAKE THE
FULL AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE
DEADLINE TO RETHINK IT.
