City in Illinois interested in proposed casino

I WILL LET
YOU KNOW WHEN
IT GETS
WORSE, COMING UP IN WEATHER
WATCH 12.
THANK YOU.
A BORDER BATTLE TONIGHT BETWEEN
TWO CITIES OVER A PROPOSED
CASINO.
THE MENOMINEE NATION WANTS TO
BUILD A HARD ROCK CASINO IN
KENOSHA, BUT AFTER THE GOVERNOR
WALKER REJECTED THE PROJECT, THE
TRIBE SAYS THEY GOT AN OFFER TO
BUILD IT JUST ACROSS THE BORDER
IN ZION, ILLINOIS.
12 NEWS’ BEN HUTCHISON IS THERE
AND SPOKE WITH THE MAYOR.
WHILE DREAMS OF A CASINO
COULD BE FADING, AN E-MAIL IS
SUGGESTING ANOTHER OPTION.
IT WAS SENT EARLIER THIS MONTH
BY AN EMPLOYEE IN THE CITY OF
ZION AND THEIR ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT.
I CAN
ONLY IMAGINE HOW
DISAPPOINTING IT WAS THE
GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER REJECTED
THE PROJECT.
ADDING, “I BELIEVE THE PROJECT
LAUNCH IN THIS AREA.”
THE MAYOR SAYS THE TOPIC HAS NOT
BEEN DISCUSSED BY THE BOARD.
ASK EACH PERSON HAS A SINGLE
VOTE, INCLUDING MYSELF.
WITHOUT THE FULL SUPPORT OF
COUNSEL, WE WOULD NOT EVEN
CONSIDER SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
THE MAYOR SAID THE CASINO
WOULD BE A POSSIBILITY IF YOU’RE
TALKING ABOUT LAND THEY HAVE
PLENTY.
THIS PERSON IS FROM FLORIDA AND
THIS ACROSS FROM THE HARD ROCK
CASINO THERE.
IT WOULD BRING A LOT OF JOBS
AND HELP OUT THE ECONOMY A LOT.
TOURISM AS WELL.
WICKMAYER HARRISON SAYS THAT
EVEN IF THERE WAS INTEREST, IT’S
NOT HIS DECISION.
WE MIGHT LOOK AT SOMETHING
LIKE THIS AND SAY WE WOULD
REALLY LIKE TO HAVE IT, BUT IT
WOULD BE
WHERE THE GOVERNOR
DECIDES TO PUT IT.
WE REACHED OUT TO KENOSHA’S
MAYOR.
HE SAYS THAT I AM NOT SURPRISED
BY IT AT ALL.
