are now getting our first look inside the newly refurbished Big Easy casino formerly the Mardi Gras casino in Hallandale Beach after it was damaged during Hurricane Emma that damage was so extensive the casino has been closed until now local tents nikki mohan live with more hey Nikki Janine they really thought after hurricane Norma that this place was a wash they said they were able to get it back opening open they don’t not ready for a grand opening just yet but they sent out some emails so some loyal customers came back and they said they’re just grateful to be back in business we’re not Mardi Gras anymore we’re the beginning getting to this point has not been easy for the former Maudie Gras casino it is back open with new slot machines and an updated look that loyal players seem to like it looks beautiful it looks real nice more space more lights it looks really nice this is what it looked like after Hurricane thermal last year a complete washout damaged so bad they’re only able to reopen the first two floors ever destroyed this building at 240,000 square foot building took the whole roof off all four floors were destroyed we really didn’t know if we couldn’t save it employees worked round the clock to clean up the casino was bought last month by the owner of the Fountainbleu Hotel they’re hoping the new investment brings new life to the Hallandale staple is a beautiful casino now I like it this is my second home the new Big Easy casino is open for business the remodeling far from over still owners say it’s a good start I’m thrilled we were completely destroyed by Hurricane Armas so I thought the place was never reopened again and they say they’re fully functioning they have poker they have slots and they also still have off-track betting here and of course dog racing but they say on the November ballot folks will get to vote on whether or not they can keep dog racing here they say they plan to build this into a much bigger facility and they’re hoping that the voters agree with them on that on the ballot in November live in Hallandale Nikki Mohan local 10 News
