now to our other top story police say an armed man was trying to rob a casino and KOCO when the security guard opened fire killing him it happened early this morning at the blue diamond arcade on us 1 just north of Dixon Boulevard and as new Six’s james Varvara tells us that security guard will not be facing charges detectives are still on the scene this afternoon at this Business Plaza on us one where overnight cocoa police say a security guard shot and killed an armed robber police say at 12:40 55 year old Nathan Carter was wearing a mask and carrying a handgun when he entered the blue diamond arcade Carter was stopped immediately by the security guard both began shooting [Music] Carter dying at a hospital police say the unidentified security guard was justified shooting him investigators also say there were about 10 other people inside the gaming room when it happened the exchange of gunfire happened inside the suspect then attempted to flee he collapsed fortunately no one was injured because when you have a dynamic situation like that it certainly could have been a lot worse police say it was captured on security cameras police and the business Plaza owner did not release the video to us the owner also declined to speak with us when we asked from what we can gather it appears to be a justified shooting he gave the suspect broken commands and not police are also looking into whether the arcade was run legally the store is closed right now Carter had a 30 year criminal history we found 32 arrests including battery grand theft and drugs dating back to the 80s the State Attorney’s Office will review the shooting and make a final determination on whether the security guards response was justified in KOCO I’m James spar Veron news 6
