Our Olympic focus turns to football as Neymar
Jr. and his national teammates prepare to
go for gold on home turf.
I hope it’ll be a great Olympics for Brazilian
people, for all sports in Brazil and that
everybody on the Brazilian team gets a medal,
especially the football team. It’s the only
thing the Brazilian football team has never
accomplished, so we’re going to do everything
possible to win.
When it comes to my training, there’s something
different to work on every day. I don’t
just train at the club, I train at home as
well, and we’re constantly monitoring everything
so I’m in the right shape.
Perfect isn’t pretty. You’ve got to fight
every day. Of course that might be difficult,
and you suffer, but in the end it’s all
worth it if you can make your dreams come true
I hope to win, to achieve my dream, my goal,
which is the gold medal. I’ll do everything
I can; I’ll be dedicated, I’ll train and
push myself as much as possible to stand on
top of the podium on the day of the final.
If I score the goal which wins the gold medal
for Brazil, I find it difficult to imagine
what would go through my head. It’s impossible
to say. It’s only at that moment that I’d
be able to describe it.
As the event draws closer I think the spirit
of the Brazilian people will be very similar
to that seen in the football World Cup. Across
every event, I think the excitement is going
to be huge and all the fans will really get
I hope these games are memorable for the celebrations,
and the organisation. I really hope it’s
the best Olympic Games ever.
And that we the Brazilian people, in our Brazil,
make everyone from all over the world feel
