Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel: Richie Incognito Police Cam Footage | HBO

POLICE OFFICER:
Here, have a seat.
BERNARD GOLDBERG:
May 23rd, 2018,
a six-foot-three
325-pound man
is arrested and placed
in the back of a police car
in Boca Raton, Florida,
after allegedly
becoming violent.
But it soon becomes clear
that this is not your ordinary
suspect.
This is a four-time NFL
Pro Bowl star,
who has gone off the rails
before.
I played 12 or 13 years
in the NFL.
POLICE OFFICER:
For the St. Louis Rams,
Miami Dolphins,
Buffalo Bills.
(SPEAKING GIBBERISH)
None of that.
(STAMMERING) Nada.
GOLDBERG:
He is Richie Incognito,
one of the toughest linemen
in the NFL,
but also one of the most
troubled.
Police soon conclude
that Incognito,
at this time in a temporary
exile from pro football,
is exhibiting bizarre behavior,
and place him
on psychiatric watch.
They said retire and I said,
“Fuck you! I’ll never retire!”
(CHUCKLES)
In my name, Jesus Christ,
my Lord and Savior.
(SOBBING) Never again.
(VOICE BREAKING)
Won’t play ever again.
I won’t fucking play…
(HEAVING)
(CRYING) I’m fine with it.
My heart fell out
of the game last year.
I don’t wanna go anymore.
I don’t wanna have to
go to Buffalo.
I don’t wanna have to go
to St. Louis.
I don’t wanna have–
I don’t wanna have to come here.
I played for a long time–
I have all my money.
I have all my fucking money,
and I don’t wanna fuckin’
play anymore!
They wanna bring me to Seattle,
they wanna bring me to D.C.,
they wanna bring me
to Minnesota.
Fuckin’ talked
to all these teams.
I don’t wanna fucking go!
All right. I’ll go.
