Shreveport-Bossier is best known for its Vegas-style
casinos, but with its authentic Louisiana
dishes, excellent riverfront shopping, many
cultural attractions and year-round festivals,
this city is perfect for those looking for
an exhilarating holiday experience.
Hi, I’m Jody and I am here in Shreveport-Bossier,
also known as ‘Louisiana’s Other Side’.
Part Cajun and part Texas, these lively cities
offer visitors a whirlwind of things to do
and places to see, so join me as I show you
What better place to start than the excitement
of a casino. Along the riverfront, you will
find six casinos and Bossier City has one
‘racino’, which offers thoroughbred horse
racing and slot machines. So, whether you
want to try your luck at the table, or simply
enjoy some world class entertainment, you’re
sure to find your perfect spot at any of the
24-hour casinos here in Shreveport-Bossier.
For a contrast to the casinos, you should
definitely take a trip on the Spirit of the
Red River Cruise. On the hour long tour along
the Red River, the friendly captain will tell
you all about the history of the area as well
as some fun facts about the local wildlife
you’re likely to see along the way.
For more family excitement, make sure you
come here to the Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science
Center. This hands-on science center is home
to super-fun, interactive activities, galleries,
exhibits, a space dome planetarium and an
The state-of-the-art Sci-Port has live presentations
and displays that will entertain and fascinate
both children and their parents. This museum
is one of more than two dozen family attractions
in the area.
To finish off the day, a trip to Great Raft
Brewing is essential! They pride themselves
on making craft beer that complements the
lifestyle and culture of Louisiana, and that
comes across in their bold beers which are
absolutely delicious. I recommend doing one
of the tasting tours which are totally free,
and a must for adults 21 and over.
I have had so much fun here in Shreveport-Bossier.
Even though we’ve only touched on a small
part of this fabulous destination, I suggest
you plan your holiday soon to See It. Bet
It. Taste It. in ‘Louisiana’s Other Side!’
