Some shocked by Gov. Walker’s Kenosha casino decision

GETTING NEWS OF THE GOVERNOR’S
DECISION.
THANK YOU.
IN A RARE TWIST, THE MAYOR OF
MILWAUKEE IS SUPPORTING THE
GOVERNOR IN HIS DECISION.
THE REALITY IS THAT THERE’S
ONLY SO MUCH CAPACITY IN THAT
INDUSTRY, AND I THINK WHAT
YOU’RE SEEING IN OTHER STATES,
PROLIFERATION OF CASINOS, YOU’RE
SEEING THEM STRUGGLING.
SO THE DECISION HAD TO BE MADE
, IF THIS PORTION OF THE ESTATE
— OF THE
STATE COULD SUPPORT
TWO CASINOS.
THE DECISION APPEARS TO BE THAT
IT CAN’T.

THEY WERE HOPING FOR JOB AND
DEVELOPMENT IN THAT AREA.
ABSOLUTELY.
IT IS SHOCK AND DISAPPOINTMENT
FOR COMMUNITY LEADERS FROM
KENOSHA AND RACINE COUNTY.
AS MAX SEIGLE REPORTS, THEY SAW
THIS AS A MUCH NEEDED ECONOMIC
BOOST TO THE REGION.
IT’S A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF LAKE
MICHIGAN FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE
IN KENOSHA, BUT ON FRIDAY, IT
WAS HARDER FOR THE MAYOR TO
ENJOY AFTER A BIG BLOW TO THE
KENOSHA CASINO.
VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I THOUGHT WE WERE GETTING CLOSER
TO A BETTER OUTCOME ON THIS.
THE MAYOR CANNOT UNDERSTAND
WHY THE GOVERNOR WOULD REJECT AN
$800 MILLION INVESTMENT IN THE
AREA, PROMISING 3000 JOBS.
WE STILL HAVE HIGH
UNEMPLOYMENT HERE IN KENOSHA.
PEOPLE WHO ARE UNDEREMPLOYED,
UNEMPLOYED, THEY WERE LOOKING
FORWARD TO THE CONSTRUCTION
JOBS.
THEY WERE LOOKING FOR TO JOBS
WITH THE CASINO AND OTHER THINGS
THAT THE WINDOW WOULD OPEN.
AREA LAW MAKERS
WANTED TO SEE
THIS PROJECT THROUGH.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING MY PHONE
BLOWUP WITH ALL THE PEOPLE WHO
ARE USING THE WORDS THAT I WANT
PUT ON TELEVISION FOR WHAT THEY
WILL BE TO TELL GOVERNOR WALKER
.
ROBIN VOS IS USUALLY IN
AGREEMENT.
IT IS THE
DECISION OF
